The Big Bike for Heart and Stroke was a huge success!!

We beat the Barrie Cycling Club by a whopping 27 seconds and set a course record!! Way to Go Baydogs!!!! We practiced our CPR beforehand and thankfully nobody needed to be rescued. The warm up lap around the track loosened us up to prep us for the ride, but the swim caps made us more aerodynamic and helped to bring us victory!!
The Barrie Cycling Club joined us at PIE after for a great social. There had to be thirty of us, easily. Thankfully PIE was great and was able to accommodate the huge unexpected crowd.

Barrie Baydogs Mentoring Program Officially Launched

The inaugural Barrie Baydogs Triathlon Club Mentoring Program officially kicked off on April 6th at Vidya’s Veggie Gourmet in Thornton.  The Mentoring Program is a free program available to Baydog Members where Mentors and Mentees are carefully matched to create awesome partnerships.  The response to the program exceeded initial expectations, and now 13 Mentors and 13 Mentees are working together during the 2014 season.  Special thanks to Laurie Hunt who facilitated the kick off orientation meeting.  Laurie is not only the Baydog Mentoring Coordinator, but she is also a Mentee.

The program design is to pair up experienced members with new or less-experienced members who are:
- New to the sport of triathlon, or
- Wanting to gain a better understanding of the sport, or
- Looking to train for a new distance or particular race, or
- Simply new to the club and would like someone to introduce them to the people and activities of the club

For more information about this program please contact the club at mentor@barrietriathlonclub.com

Muskoka TriSummit April 11-13, 2014 (Huntsville, ON)

On April 11th to 13th, 2014, TriMuskoka will be hosting the 2nd annual Muskoka TriSummit in Huntsville, Ontario, right in the heart of Triathlon Country.

The TriSummit is Canada's only endurance sports conference put on by endurance athletes for endurance athletes.

TriMuskoka puts on this event purely out of the love of the sport, and to provide Canadian athletes, from try-a-triers to well experienced athletes, an educational experience that is second to none.  That is why we are hosting a world class, hands on conference and clinic, in our community that lives and breathes endurance sports every day.

With professional athletes such as Matt Fitzgerald, Ryan Grant, Brooke Brown, Ryan Cain, and elite level coaches such as Craig Taylor (RTC Guelph) and Mark Fellner (Swim Canada), you are guaranteed to get your moneys worth, pick up some extra speed, and get focussed for the season ahead.

There is a preconference that we are hosting in conjunction with canfitpro (accredited for 4 educational credits), on the Friday focusing on "Coaching the Endurance Athlete".  This is $99 but $49 for canfitpro members.

Don't wait to sign up until the last minuted as several of the clinics are limited by space.  There are also prizes to be won every week, so the earlier you sign up, the more likely you are to win a prize...even free accommodations and registration for the weekend!

All the info you need is at www.muskokatrisummit.com

Chilly Half Marathon & Some Fast Baydogs!

The Chilly Half marathon is one of the season’s opening races! Which means around the bay is coming in a few short weeks. Congratulations to everyone who participated in the Chilly Half. It was definitely chilly out there and some great results were obtained regardless of the cold temperatures. Special congratulations to Baydog Allan Johnson who finished 3rd in his age group. The Wednesday night speed work is paying off. Hopefully warmer temperatures will be here soon, which will mean no excuses, come out and join us every Wednesday night at 630 for speed work! Check out the speed chart on the website!
