MEC announced as Funding Partner for Baydogs Mentoring Program

The Barrie Baydogs Triathlon Club are pleased to announce MEC as a funding partner of the leading edge Baydogs Mentoring Program.  This funding will be used to enhance the program effectiveness, as well as funding surveys, research, documentation, automating participant profiles, and a best practices report.  This year, group mentoring will be introduced in addition to the one-on-one pairings.

The Mentoring program is offered free of charge to Baydogs members and is led by Mentoring Coordinator Laurie Hunt.  The program has been instrumental in the growth and development of both new and experienced athletes.

MEC Night!

Lots of people showed up for the MEC club night! Thanks again MEC for being such a great sponsor. Hopefully everybody got a chance to load up on some much needed gear for the season! It's always nice to learn some basic maintenance skills for the season, you never know when a flat will happen! If you missed it you can always sign up for one of the bike maintenance clinics on the website events.mec.ca

Mentoring Program Orientation

The Orientation for the mentoring program was a huge success, most of the mentors/mentees made it to the meeting and got to know each other. The business was taken care of with contracts and expectations, then the fun stuff snacks and team names. This years mentoring program has some changes including group mentoring which appears to be a hit among the participants! There will be more info to come on some of the great things coming this season!
A huge shout out to Laurie Hunt for putting this together and making it possible!

2016 Baydogs Mentoring Program Launched!

It's that time of year again to launch our annual mentoring program for club members. Mentoring is an opportunity get guidance and support from experienced triathletes. Mentors are not coaches but rather a guide on the side that you can use as a sounding board, for motivation or accountability or whatever parameters you and your mentoring partner agree to. We cover all the details in the Mentoring Orientation on Tuesday March 29 from 6:30-9:00.

Just like our sport, we are always learning and adapting the structure to meet the varied needs of our members.

This year we have added peer mentoring groups to the format and within each group we aim to have 2 mentors and a maximum of 5 mentees. The proposed group categories are below. If there is a need to adjust the categories based on applicants, we will do so as much as possible.

    ○ New to triathlon

    ○ 70.3 Muskoka

    ○ 70.3 Barrelman

    ○ Full Iron distance

    ○ Women 55+

We are also keeping our 1:1 mentoring option open for those that prefer an individual learning environment.

Chiropractic Clinic Returning as Gold Sponsor for 2016

Hooray! The Chiropractic Clinic, led by Dr. Frank Astri, has renewed their Gold Sponsorship for 2016. The Chiropractic Clinic is our longest standing Sponsor partner and the Club is extremely grateful for their continued support. Most of our membership has likely visited The Chiropractic Clinic for treatment at some time or another. Their services include chiropractic, active release technique (ART), massage therapy, physiotherapy, acupuncture, and yoga. Their ART work is truly magic! Dr. Frank and his team have volunteered at many local races including Ironman, where they treat athletes before, during, and after events. On behalf of the Baydogs, thank you for all you do for our Sport.

Other previously announced Gold Sponsor for 2016 include:  MEC Barrie, Podium Prosperity Group, and Barrie Subaru
